Day Out
We've had a lovely family day out today in a bid to maintain a degree of normality - still no baby! My sister-in-law had a baby girl yesterday and she was due after me! Anyhow, that aside, it was lovely to get out of the house and enjoy some fresh air before returning home for an afternoon of Six Nations rugby!
My husband is a very keen fisherman and Sophia loves going with him from time to time. Obviously, being only 5 years old, there is a limit to her tolerance, but nevertheless we spent a good 2 hours at a lakeside in glorious spring sunshine.
Blue skies...
Four fish were caught - one carp and three bream ...
While I read ...
And carried on with my Giant Rainbow Granny Sqaure!

Still Waiting!
No news on the awaited little person I'm afraid. My husband and I are two of the most punctual people you could ever meet - sadly this is evidently not true of this little boy or his big sister! However, to pass the time today I was taken to one of my favourite haunts Cafe TwoCann for lunch before stopping off to stock up on magazines for a little light reading! On the creative front I am now in love with crocheting granny squares. My current project is progressing excellently - my giant rainbow granny square, as it has become known! I'm using Rico Creative Cotton which is a barginous yarn available in a rainbow of colours which I am totally in love with. This fabulous yarn was recommended on the Attic24 blog and can be purchased from my favourite yarn shop in the whole world - First4yarns - as listed in my favourite places of inspiration.

Pizza Night
Saturday in our house is very often Pizza night - homemade of course! It's something we all pitch in with making and the fact that its so easy is a bonus. As Andy commutes all week, Saturdays are almost always family days so a meal that is fun and takes care of itself is just the ticket! Sometimes I make the dough by hand but more often than not I let the breadmaker do it for me! The choice of toppings is always endless - tonight's version was Sophia's choice - tomato puree, fresh tomato, pepperoni and cheese.
Who knows what will be chosen next time topping wise! My favourite is a tomato puree base topped with caramelised, balsamic red onions and lots and lots of feta cheese!

D-day?
Well, today is officially due date but I am not holding out any hope for an appearance - sadly these things are not set in stone! I am however, up and dressed, and made a short excursion down and then back up my steep hill to buy some provisions for afternoon sofa time - a home mag and some pick and mix! My cocoon awaits me after lunch and who knows how the day may proceed - the day is still young and there is the excitement of the Wales v. England rugby match tonight. I'm not sure how my husband will take it if babba arrives during the match though!

Burst of Energy
Well I did manage to complete a quilt top in an afternoon after my last post! On Saturday we had a lovely family day out - walking along the seafront in Mumbles, lunch at Verdi's, followed by a visit to my local quilt shop to buy backing fabric and batting for the baby quilt. The ladies in the shop were quite perturbed about my burst of energy - this has not resulted in baby yet though!
To finish off the afternoon, Sophia and I baked some cupcakes. My friend Lisa, who I met on a cake decorating course and is also my knitting/sewing buddy, recommended the 'I Bake Cupcakes' app for the iPhone. I found a recipe on there for banana, white chocolate and cheese cupcakes which were truly amazing. The sponge contains the banana and white chocolate while the frosting is made with cream cheese. We decorated the cake tops with white chocolate chips to finish them off. The recipes on the app. are fabulous and I am looking forward to trying out several more - however, given the imminent arrival who knows when this will be!!
